"Have you ever hated yourself for staring at the phone?
You're whole life waiting on the ring to prove you're not alone
Have you ever been touched so gently you had to cry?
Have you ever invited a stranger to come inside?"
-Pink, Glitter in the air

I looove this song. It's definitely like my new obsession...which I have a lot of. And they come and go, with the wind I guess. There's no rhyme or reason...

"Have you ever wished for an endless night?
Lassoed the moon and the stars and pulled that rope tight?
Have you ever held your breath and asked yourself will it ever get better than tonight?"

I love songs with questions in them so then you actually have to question yourself, unless you're so full of pride that you can't bring yourself down enough to even listen to the question. But I don't think I know too many people like that...thankfully. Anyways, questions make you so vulnerable. They humble you, they make you examine the deepest darkest piece of your soul. I question myself a lot, but for some reason it is harder to accept questions when it comes from someone else. We immediately become defensive. It's definitely pride. I mean, it's hard to accept criticism, and it's also hard to accept someone questioning your values, your convictions, the very essence of who you are. Everyone wants to be original, you know? So we don't want someone questioning our originality. It's like you've been through this fire and you came out purified and stronger, and then someone has the nerve to question that. Who are they?!

But then sometimes questions fuel us to become a better person. Sometimes that pride and rebellion within us wants to prove them wrong. "So why don't you drink?" Instead of raging into a fury about the question, I use it to spur me on to being a better me. I know why I don't drink, and I am now working to defend that. I am now seeing that one question has lead to 500 questions of my own and through that I have been refined even further than I ever imagined. Questions are in a way a new birth for us. They are a way to create something that never was before.

Questions are a sort of rebirthing.
